Get your family photos done early! We are excited to be working with once again with Sarah Jane Photography to offer you a Mini Photo Session right here at Ridgeway. Sarah specializes in candid portraits, capturing beautiful family moments in a natural way.
You’ll have a chance to book a 20-minute timeslot for your family photo session.
Friday, October 2 from 10am to 5pm (this is a Pro D day)
Saturday, October 3 from 10am to 5pm
The session fee per 20-minute timeslot is $50 and includes 1 digital image. You have the option to purchase 3 images for $100 or all images (usually around 15) for $250.
As a fundraiser, Ridgeway will get back the session fee for every family that books a timeslot.
* If Friday and Saturday times fill up, we will consider adding the Sunday *
Please complete a self-assessment prior to your session and only come if you pass. Please do not show up more than 5 minutes before your session and please leave after. Please wash your hands before and after your session. Common spaces (such as any benches used) will be sanitized.
Tuned & Donated
to a Child in North Vancouver this Christmas
Ridgeway Bikes for Tykes Drive
December 6th 8:15am to 9:00am
Every year, James Wilson and his team at Obsession Bikes receive 100s of donated, previously-loved kids bikes from North Shore families for the Bikes for Tykes Program. The bikes are tuned and made like new for a new child to ride them. Through the work of the Christmas Bureau, these bikes (along with a brand new helmet) are given to kids in our area in time for Christmas, with the majority of recipients being identified through Family Services of the North Shore.
This is a great opportunity for the Ridgeway community to get involved and support a fantastic local initiative. As James described to the entire school during the Bike to School Week assembly back in May, his belief is that every kid deserves to experience the joy and freedom that riding a bike can provide. Not to mention all the places a bike can take us as we grow and keep riding!
This coming Friday December 6th, 8:15 am – 9:00 am, please drop off a bike that your child/children have outgrown, knowing you are helping create an amazing Christmas for some less fortunate child in our neighbourhood. Not to mention, clearing room for the next bike in your home!
I will personally be there from 1 to 3pm to talk with the community about our project. ❤️
Clean out the closets! The DDA Clothing Drive is coming up on Thursday, May 2. White DDA collection bags will come home soon, but if you have more than will fit in one bag, you can use any garbage bag or similar-sized bag.
Acceptable “soft” items include clothing, shoes, purses, accessories (hats, mittens, scarves), linens, bedding, towels, blankets, drapes, table linens, sewing material. Acceptable housewares (“hard” items) include sporting gear, toys, games, dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, glassware, vases, and small ornaments. Please note, DDA does not accept books, pillows, furniture, or any other large items. Please separate your “soft” and “hard” items into separate bags.
This clothing drive benefits the Developmental Disabilities Association. If we gather 150 full bags or more, we will receive $3 per bag. These proceeds will support this year’s Grade 7 graduation celebrations as well as their “legacy gift” of a new water-bottle filler, which has already been installed on the 3rd floor of the school!
Drop off your bags on Thursday May 2, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Ridgeway Ave between 8th and 9th Streets (near the tennis courts). Tell your friends and family – the more bags we receive, the more money we raise!
Announcing our new Ridgeway Ravens spirit wear! With the unveiling of the new “Ridgeway Ravens” school logo, we are excited to unveil our first round of spirit wear.
For 2019, we will be selling t-shirts (youth & adult, 3 colours) and water bottles. Water bottles will be a Grade 7 fundraising item.
You will receive an order form home from school today. Orders for Ridgeway Ravens shirts & water bottles are due March 15th to your classroom teacher.
Why so fast? This is an exciting chance to celebrate Ridgeway and we want to be sure to deliver your order ASAP. Orders will be delivered to the school after Spring Break.
Many thanks to Tsleil-Waututh artist Gordon “Tchilaqs7Tchila” Dick for creating our new logo!
We are proud to be the Ridgeway Ravens!
We don’t run many fundraisers during the year, but when we do, we try to make them for things you’d actually want & need. Between now and March 15th, you can order freezer-ready packs of local meat from Two Rivers Meats. Order your chicken, ground beef, bacon, sausages or variety packs! All orders come pre-frozen in easy-to-store vacuum sealed packaging.
